Sales Manager –
Report to Head of Sales

   
Brief Overview of Department / Job Purpose
 

The Sales Manager will identify and develop new business opportunities, co-ordinate the tendering of new target projects, negotiate and develop contacts whilst ensuring that the final contracts entered into fulfil the intended purpose, minimise risk and improve the organisation’s commercial position to contribute the growth of MESL Microwave.

   
Location

Principally based in the Office in Newbridge Edinburgh, although there will be extensive travel required to customers in the UK, Europe and Asia. The Sales Manager is expected to spend 60% of their time in customer facing meetings.

The creation of sales for which the Sales Manager is responsible are worth approx £4M on an annual basis
   
Principal Accountabilities
 

Maintain customer relationships with MESL Microwaves customers to develop new and ensure continuing business to maximise MESL’s growth.

Identify new opportunities for MESL products within the, Defence, Space and Telecommunications markets.

Lead on the review and negotiation of contracts to ensure they are of the highest profitability to maximise growth for the MESL Microwave.

Build effective sales pipeline through customer visits, telephone calls and follow up enquiries in order to ensure future business development. 

Liaise with key contacts within MESL to ensure necessary assistance is secured for the completion of contracts to ensure maximum profitability and closure of the sale.

   

Knowledge/Skills and Experience

 

Strong commercial skills and demonstrable track record of success in securing Technical Sales.

Engineering graduate or equivalent significant experience/professional development in the field of engineering (RF or Microwave preferred).

First class negotiation skills and experience of successful negotiations leading to high value sales.

A high level understanding of financial data, commercial contracts and legal requirements.

Excellent networking skills and significant experience of high level customer interaction and satisfaction levels.

Our product range includes : Waveguide subsystems, 3 port Circulators (KW peak power), 4 Port Phase shift Circulators (MW peak power), Toroidal Ferrite Phase Shifters, Toroidal Ferrite Switches, Latching Ferrite Switches, Rotary Switches, Ferrite Polarisers, Ferrite Power Dividers, High Power Loads.
Markets: Radar, Missile, Space, Medical Imaging, Broadcast, SatCom, Electronic Warfare, Scientific, Security.
 
Ferrite Components:
Our product range includes : Packaged Drop-in Isolators and Circulators, Coaxial Isolators and Circulators, Isohybrids, Substrate Drop-in Isolators and Circulators, Iso-adaptors, Waveguide Junction Isolators and Circulators. All available in 2, 3, 4 & multiport versions.
Market: Cellular Power Amplifiers, Cellular Combiners, Radars, Phased Array Radars, Satcoms, Space, Broadcast, Missile.
 
Active Microwave Subsystems:
Our product range includes : Millimetre Wave Transceivers, Microwave Proximity Fusing, VCO's, Couplers, LNA's, Up & Down Converters, Build to Print subcontract.
Market: Defence, Security, Medium volume telecom
 
Diplexers and Couplers:
Our product range includes : 6GHz to 38GHz diplexers and 3dB, 6dB or 10dB waveguide couplers.
Market: Cellular point to point radio links.
 
Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) Pulse Compression:
Our product range includes : SAW to SAW or Digital to SAW expander/compressor sub-systems, Digital Waveform Generators. Delay Lines, Specialist Filters.

QC Inspector

 

MESL Microwave is a leader in microwave electronic engineering and is looking for a Quality Inspector to join their busy inspection team.
              

 

Duties will include:
  • Goods Inwards Inspection as required on various Mechanical Assemblies.
  • Perform Final Inspections as outlined by Customer Contracts.
  • The maintenance of true and accurate inspection records, including  the up keep of inspection control cards non-conforming products and calibration, outside supplier faults and to accurately record all faults found.
  • To guarantee any non-conforming product is identified and Non-conformance report is raised and completed as per company process.
  • Prepare first article Inspection reports as per Customer Contract.
  • Ensure that any parts returned from customers are checked quickly and results verified against customer complaint.
  • To report any errors or omissions in all Assembly drawings.
Experience needed
for this
role:
  • A good Knowledge of interpreting engineering drawings and standards
  • A comprehensive understanding of manufacturing techniques
  • Operation of Mitutoyo Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other relevant equipment is essential.
